What a Wonderful Day — Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Gaggia Charity Concert and Community Morning on Saturday at Lindley Methodist Church and Community Centre.
We are delighted to say that the concert was a sell-out, and the whole day was filled with warmth, music, coffee and community spirit.
The performances from:
Huddersfield Men’s Voices
Marsh Ladies Choir
Musical Hands
were absolutely outstanding.
A special moment was the audience participation led by Musical Hands, where everyone learned the sign language to “Going to the Chapel” — which went down a treat and brought plenty of smiles and laughter.
The solo performance by one of our own, Katie Beadle, of “Both Sides Now” was also beautifully received.
The morning community event was equally encouraging, with coffee, cakes, music, conversation and local groups coming together in a wonderful atmosphere, while raising money for their own causes.
Most importantly, the event will help support children’s education, particularly in Kenya, Africa.
As part of our celebration of 75 years of Gaggia in the UK, it was wonderful to see the spirit of coffee bringing people together once again — from Soho coffee bars to homes and communities.
Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, supported and encouraged us.
More photos and updates — including the final amount raised — will follow shortly.

Gaggia Charity Concert & Community Gala
As part of the 75th anniversary of Gaggia in the UK, we are delighted to host our third Gaggia Charity Concert at Lindley Methodist Church, Huddersfield. Morning Community Event Lindley Methodist Community Centre Coffee, cakes, music and local fundraising stalls. Charity Concert – 2:30pm Featuring:
Funds raised will support children’s education, particularly in Kenya. Tickets Available on this page This year we are again delighted to welcome Paul Whittaker, OBE, with Musical Hands Signing Choir to join Huddersfield Men's Voices, (formerly Gledholt Male Voice Choir) and Marsh Ladies Choir, both having admirably performed for us at the last year’s concert.
Paul Whittaker, OBE - Born in Huddersfield in 1964, has been Deaf all his life. A pianist and organist, he has a music degree from Wadham College, Oxford and a PG Diploma from the RNCM. For 27 years Paul ran a charity helping Deaf people access music before starting a freelance career in 2015. In 2007 he was awarded an OBE for Services to Music. Musical Hands Signing Choir was the first one Paul set up, 10 years ago, and was originally called Paul’s Signing Choir. They have both Deaf and hearing members; some have been signing for years, others have only started recently, and they all share a love of signing songs. Thom Meredith will again be our compere and soloist. In addition to his passion for conducting, Thom has established a reputation as a fine baritone soloist, an arranger of music for female, male and mixed voice choirs. He has taken solo bass/baritone roles in a wide variety of concerts, operas and oratorios including first performances of contemporary works. |
"In the 1950s Gaggia espresso machines helped create the famous coffee bar culture in Soho. Seventy-five years later we’re celebrating that heritage by bringing people together through coffee, music and community."
Funds raised will support children’s education, particularly in Kenya, continuing a project that has helped young people access schooling and higher education over the past two decades.
The day will begin with a morning community event at the Lindley Methodist Community Centre, where local groups will host stalls and refreshments. Visitors can enjoy coffee, cakes, music and community activities, with espresso coffee prepared using traditional Gaggia machines. From Soho to Your Home
