Quick Set Up - Gaggia Accademia

Always read the manufacturer's instructions.

This is a Quick Set up guide for the Gaggia Accademia. 

The Accademia comes already assembled. The only item that the user needs to fit is the :
  • Milk Carafe

Other items supplied are :
  1. Power Cord
  2. Ground Coffee Scoop
  3. Lubricant for brewing unit
  4. Water Filter (on some models only)
  5. Instruction Manuals

Features

  4. Bean Hopper with 10 grind settings adjuster (Grinder Adjuster to change the fineness-
    1. Note : Do not adjust the grinder when it is not in use. Only adjust when the grinder is grinding
    2. Note : Make sure the bean hopper is dry. Keep the lid  closed to avoid any water or other materials accidentally getting into the hopper
  5. Removable Water Tank
  6. Adjustable Brew Dispenser. Brew Dispenser can be pulled out to make way for a 16 oz cup.
  7. Three Programmable Coffee Buttons. to set coffee sizes - eg Espresso, medium Coffee and Long Coffee : Dosage can be set by going into beverage settings. 
  8.  ​Aroma Strength Button : You can adjust the strength from 7g to 11g of coffee. The button also is used to select Pre-Ground Coffee Option
  9. Menu Button allows further options for Beverage settings or Machine settings. These include Coffee Temperature adjustment, Dosage settings, Stand-by Timings, Descale Level selector, Factory Reset and Descaling, milk froth levels etc. 

Start Up
  1. Fill Water Tank
  2. Fill Bean Hopper
  3. Connect Power Cord
  4. Fit the Milk Carafe
  5. Switch on Machine using the on/off switch at the back of the machine.
  6. Press standby button to switch on machine
  7. The machine will try sending water through the steam pipe to prime the water circuit.
  8. Once priming is completed the machine will start up, showing the heating bar on the screen, moving right as the machine heats up
  9. On reaching the brew temperature, the machine will rinse water through the front dispenser.
  10. You may see some steam coming though the vents after every rinse/brewing/steaming function is completed.
  11. The machine is ready for use.
  12. Press the aroma button for the strength required [or select pre-ground option.]
  13. Press the required coffee button - espresso, medium coffee or lungo
  14. Machine will grind the beans, brew the coffee and dispose of the spent coffee grounds into the dreg box.
  15. The brew group will go back to the home position. Do not turn off the machine while the brew group is moving to or from home position.
  16. Empty Dreg Box when full or at regular intervals. Also empty the Drip Tray.
  17. The Brew Unit needs to be removed and cleaned once every week or every 30 coffees. Wash Brew unit under cold running water to flush any coffee grounds.
  18. The lubricant provided with the machine can be used to lubricate the moving joints of the brew unit  every 6 months or 5000 coffees whichever happens first.
